On Monday, I purchased a golf cart way out in Stonyford (translate: BFE). If all goes according to plan, it will be a gorgeous art car by Burning Man 2010.

I’m still trying to decide whether to use Lightroom’s web interface, Gallery (which is severely slowing down the site), or a third party site like Flickr or Picasa to host Blaqua images; hence the galleries being displayed in seemingly random places.
The Blacklight Aquarium WILL have a presence on the playa this year - a very small one (there are only six of us going). For the first time since 2002, we are unthemed, and are taking it to the back streets - we’re aiming for somewhere between 7:00 - 7:30 and H - I. Three of us (The Naugasnake, Tar’a, and I) plan to arrive on Monday, August 31st, at noon, and will claim our plot and reserve space next to us for some Sacramento friends with whom we have partnered. Collectively, we are known as The Consortium. J, Crash, and Xtine (Reverse Cowgirl) will arrive on Wednesday afternoon.
Aforementioned Sacramento friends consist of around 16 burners in 4 trailers/RV’s. They will bring with them one art car called Incognito. If you’re going to be on the playa, look for the golf cart donning big nose and ears, eyeglasses, and bushy mustache/eyebrows.
As for Blaqua, we will be bringing the main dome, an Easy-Up for the kitchen, the shower/evap setup, and the generator. The evap and shower pumps will be run off of marine and car batteries (thanks, Bart and Ika-San for technical assistance on that), and the microwave off the generator, which will also recharge the marine battery as needed. We won’t be erecting the Spinning Fish Sign of Death, but we’ll have Twinkie-Boy’s Blacklight Aquarium sign out.
For those that will be on the playa, we hope to see you out there. For those that will not be on the playa this year, we will miss you out there and will definitely raise a glass to you - since several of you aren’t going, that means several glasses… partay!
It is the year of travel, apparently.

Next stop for Jared (and then Myk to visit him) - Barcelona!
Crash, Ika-San, J, Myk, and Xtine escaped the holidays to Playa del Carmen in the Yucatan. It was warm, sunny, balmy, and action packed.

Here are some photos from the 2008 Blaqua Decompression, held at the lovely home of Tar’a and the Naugasnake. The theme was “Rock’n'Roll High School” (whatever that meant), and we were all treated to a premiere viewing of the 2008 NaugaDVD.
Thank you Tar’a and Nauga for hosting an unforgettable partay.
This redesign is underway! Blaqua is now powered by WordPress, and soon, the latest version of Gallery will manage…well… the galleries. I’m playing with the design template, which is a CSS template I customized the hell out of to force it into being a WordPress Theme. Consequently, I learned some of the nuts and bolts of this WordPress thing. It’s nowhere complete, merely a work in progress. A lot more will happen over the next few weeks, so if you’re wondering where a lot of the content on this site has gone, fear not. It will be back in some form or other.
In the meantime, below are links to feeshes’ galleries and whatnot that have been on the temporary main page for months.
Blaqua will be going offline for a while while it changes hosts.
It will be back.
Stay tuned…
